Welcome to Our Website
I hope you enjoy your visit.
We have been raising Siamese and Balinese kittens in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan since 2006,
in the small town called Gwinn, which is 25 minutes by Lake Superior, one of the Great Lakes.
People consider the Upper Peninsula as God's Country, I can't agree more, it is so breathtaking
here with it's four seasons.. Sugars Cattery is located in only Gwinn Michigan. I'm sorry we do not
have kittens available in any other states/locations however we do ship all over the United States.
We also are willing to deliver up to 500 miles one way for a small fee call or email us for those rates.
How we began, In 2006 I started looking for a Siamese kitten for my Husband for a Christmas
present, and after seeing and talking to a lot of Siamese breeders and being disguised on what I
saw and heard, and the love that we have for this breed we decided to become breeders so we
could make sure families could get wonderful, socialized, healthy and adorable Siamese and
Balinese kittens. We also wanted people to feel like family when they adopt one of our kittens, and
know that we are always here to be there for you and our kittens.
Why we decided to name our Cattery Sugars, besides we are so very proud to say that our kittens
are sweet as sugar. The name actually came from my Husband's tabby cat that he had when we
first got together. Sugar has went up to heaven now, and we miss her so much, but the name will
always be Sugars Cattery, as long as we can. We treat each individual cat and kitten with
unconditional love and attention. We spare no expense when it comes to health. All our adult cats
are allowed to roam freely throughout our home and are strictly indoor cats. They eat high quality
food; get a well-balanced diet, and get lots of human attention. Kittens are fully litter trained and in
top physical condition before leaving our home. We are a closed cattery, meaning; no cats other
than our breeding family enters our home at any time. This is an insurance against any feline
disease and keeps strict health control over our breeding environment. Visits are limited. Kitten
visits are restricted until they are at least 8 weeks of age, and still must be individually evaluated
prior to a scheduled visit, and may not be possible or in the best interest of your kitten. Our kittens
leave between 10 and 14 weeks old, any stress may set back the leaving date for your kitten and
others. I take great care that does not happen. For more information, please feel free to either call or
email us.
We are very dedicated to each and every one of our breeders, as well as our babies, so we are very
selective as to where we let our kittens go. Are Cats are first family members and then breeders and
never the other way around. We think of our customers as family members and we want to make
sure that is how everyone that gets a kitten from us feels that way. Which means that even after you
get your kitten we are there for you either by phone or email. Once you have adopted one of our
babies we consider you part of our extended family. We love receiving pictures of our babies as
they grow up, as well as hearing about stories about how they are doing. Our Cattery is quite
different from most Catteries. It is set-up like just like a home, right down to the curtains and the
toys scattered around, because it is in our home. Our cats are only in separate rooms during labor
and delivery. The kittens remain in their area along with plenty of toys, and cat condos, until they are
old enough to come out and play, and have mastered the litter pans. Before shipping our kittens,
we buy the pet taxi and let them play on, in and around it for at least a week. This helps the kittens
get used to it. Also, each kitten will be shipped with a handmade blankie from me with love. This
blanket will have the scent of the mother, and the kittens litter-mates all over it, making it easy for
them to go to their forever home. (We kindly ask that you do not take the blankie away from the
kitten the first few days after getting your kitten, nor wash the blanket as that will destroy the scent)
Every kitten gets a blanket, even ones being picked up here and driven to their new homes.
Your Sugar kitten will be bathed prior to leaving the Sugars nursery, so you do not have to worry
about bathing your new fur-baby.
***We guarantee NO fleas, ear mites, worms or other problems which can lead to additional
costs.***
Sugars Kitten Cattery is a 100% FeLV and FIV "TESTED" negative cattery! As well as one of the few
100% negative ringworm Catteries on the net. Sugar Kitten Cattery- Goes the extra mile so you
don't have to.
We strive to produce kittens of quality, beauty, terrific health, and outstanding personalities. We
realize each kitten we bring into the world is a gift from God and each will further fill this world with
happiness and love. We realize that what we put into each kitten the first 10-12 weeks of life is the
very foundation of that cat's entire life & we take that role very serious. We understand that good
food & name brand vaccines are only a very small portion of that foundation.
We treat each and every kitten as if it's the only kitten we have. We believe that "Good Breeders"
never give advise on other breeders unless it is sweet & kind. We believe it takes parties to ensure a
long life happy healthy kitten... Buyer and seller......... Always working hand in hand and always
understanding that this is "OUR KITTEN" together forever..... We expect the kitten's new family to
know the responsibilities of owning and raising a kitten before they decide to purchase it.
Any person who decides to adopt any kitten or cat whether they purchase it from us, from someone
else, or adopt from the Humane Society, or even if it's free, they need to take care of the responsibly
. Responsibly does not end with spaying or neutering. It is a lifetime commitment, which reaps
rewards higher than any amount of money.
What's a True Breeder
A true breeder continues to try. One who wrestles with decisions of conscience,
convenience, and commitment.
Friendships, fancy furniture, and deep pile carpeting...
She gives up the dreams of a long, luxurious cruise in favor of
turning that all due-date into a " vacation."
A Breeder always has time to visit and answer questions from a past
buyer's 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With no sick days, or
vacation days.
A Breeder's paycheck is one filled with kitten kisses, welcoming
eyes, accompanied by a trusting heart & words of praise from lives
that are enriched by her breeding programs.
A true Breeder would never consider selling to a person that
wouldn't keep in touch.
A Breeder must know how to communicate with her cats like she
does with her children...... After all, children can speak when
something is wrong.....cats can not. A true Breeder knows "kitten
speak."
The Breeder goes without sleep(but never without caffeine!) in hours
spent planning a breeding or watching anxiously over the birth
process, and afterwards, anxious with every little sneeze, wiggle, or
cry she sees.
A Breeder has a connection with her cats, that Only God
understands.
The Breeder skips dinner parties because a litter is due, warm &
inviting never too busy for a furry purry hug.
A Breeder's hands are strong and firm, often dried-out from bathing
&grooming, but ever so gentle and sensitive to the bumps of a
kitten's wet nose.
A Breeder's back and knees are usually arthritic from stooping, her
back heavy from bending, and sitting in birthing box, but are strong
enough to handle heavy litter boxes.
A Breeder's shoulders are stooped from responsibility, often heaped
with abuse from competitors, but they're wide enough to support the
weight of a thousand defeats and frustrations.
A Breeder's arms are always able to wield a mop, support an armful
of kittens, or lend a helping hand to a newcomer.
A Breeder's ears are wondrous things, sometimes red (from being
talked about) or strangely shaped( from being pressed against the
telephone receiver) often deaf to criticism, yet always fine-tuned to
the whimper of a sick kitten.
A Breeder's eyes can see through a dishonest person quickly. A
Breeder's choices are sometimes unclear to the public eye. A
Breeder's brain is foggy on faces, but it can recall all of her kitten's
names faster than a computer can download a file.
A True Breeder does not need to put down other breeders, in order
to make herself feel and look better.
A Breeder's head is so full of knowledge that sometimes it blows a
fuse! It is capable of cataloging hundreds of furry faces, knowing
each one by it's eyes.
It does not see anything less than a Purrr-fect feline. It does not
recognize "runts" as being any less than 110%!
A Breeder carries a bruise on her soul for the ones that didn't turn
out to be a breeder, yet held up in hope of someday producing
outstanding family companions.
A true Breeder knows that is a very fine-line held between life and
death in the first week of life.
The Breeders heart is often broken, but it beats strongly with hope
everlasting......and it is always in the right place!!!!
A piece of the Breeder's heart is installed into each and every baby
that leaves her arms.
Hoping and praying the new kitty client will keep her in their
lives......forever!
Oh, yes, there some breeders, and then there are BREEDERS!!!!!!!
We try to stand by this little poem and we wanted
to share it with you.
The Cat Owners Prayer
Because I'm only human,
It's sometimes hard to be
The wise, all-knowing creature
That my cat expects of me.
And so I pray for special help
To somehow understand
The subtle implications
Of each proud meowed command.
Oh, let me not forget that chairs
Were put on earth to shred;
And what I like to call a lap
Is actually a bed.
I know it's really lots to ask
But please, oh please, take pity;
And though I'm only human,
Make me worthy of my kitty!
